Yes, I say blame conservatives, for harboring terrorists. I think it’s time to use their own rhetoric against them. If you’re not opposed to the political message that terrorists communicate, than you’re for them. Conservatives are becoming guilty of terrorism. Read the rest of this entry »

Everything But Marriage?
It seems that Washington, as in the state, is getting around to legalizing gay marriage. They have not done it yet, but they’re getting closer by having passed a bill that gives same-sex domestic partners all of the rights of a married couple. Go read about it here. Then take a look at the date on that piece. April 15, 2009. How come I am only hearing about this now? Read the rest of this entry »

Children Don’t Have Rights (?)
An article was recently brought to my attention. It seems that somewhere in New Jersey, a kid has been suspended for five days from school for organizing and running a beauty contest. Called May Madness, he and his friends pick the 16 hottest girls in the school, and then vote on them in a head-to-head tournament, not unlike the way the NCAA runs its March Madness basketball tournament. And for this, he’s been kicked out of school for a week. Read the rest of this entry »

What’s a Conservative
I’ve been putting a lot of thought into this lately. I mean, I like to rant and rave and point the finger as much as anyone, but sometimes, you have to just hunker down and try to see if there’s a solution. Strip away all the nonsense and address the question: what is the fundamental point of friction here?
A conservative is not merely “pro-torture.” And a liberal is not merely “pro-gay marriage.” Rather, a political philosophy (for want of a better term) leads a person to one side of the fence or the other. If I can find out what those philosophies are, I might be able to better dismantle the arguments of my opponents. Read the rest of this entry »

Congressman Charged With Assault
Yeah, another bad politician. Even though we lean left over here, we still think all politicians are bad. Well, not all. Wait, yes, all, because the ones that aren’t are called “statesman.”
But you know this will be politicized by the pundits. The right is going to jump all over this and say: See? See? Democrats are out of control! And everytime someone mentions corrupt republicans, this one will get trotted out. Let’s see, there’ lying to congress, taking bribes, the wholesale murder of thousands of people, versus… what was it again? Oh yeah, an accusation of assault– AFTER the police questioned him and let him go. Seems someone wants to jump on the litigious bandwagon.
It’s not even up the Macaca level of scandal. But they’ll take anything they can get. You know, come to think of it, more democratic politicians should perpetrated petty misdemeanors like this, just so the pundits finally get enough rope to hang themnselves with. That would be good…

Its Not Waste; Its Theft
The short version: of the 1 billion set aside to address redress for those injured during work at ground zero in New York, 45k has been paid out, with 75 million going to lawyers. There. Incentive to riot.
I want to know who in this country can justify this in the least. I want to find the conservative republican Bush-lover who can say “this makes sense” with a straight face, and mean it, and not be so bat-snot crazy that he’s eating live bugs out of an old jelly-jar. Because that’s what this country has become– crazy– beneath and a Bush and a Cheney that have so abused our sense of right and wrong, we allow this sort of thing to go on.
I’m not here to tell people to break the law, and I’m not here to ask folks to do bad things. But if all of this is legal, then someone needs to pay. Whatever lawyer or congressperson made this possible needs to be tarred and feathered. And the lawyers who are doing this? Tar and feather them too.
Let’s just say, for the sake of argument, that no claims are legitimate. Let’s just say the the 1 billion was set aside for something it should not have been set aside for. How does that in the least justify these lawyer’s taking it at all? How can you say they have earned the money they’ve taken to keep people from taking the money? I mean, if you even cap claims at, say 50k, that’s 1500 people, 1500 American citizens, who could have gotten this money and done something with it… and pretty much where ever they spent it, it would have gone back into America.
I’m speculating now, but lawyers who know how to steal 75 million probably also know how to keep from paying taxes on it, with off-shore accounts and such. Well hip hip hooray. That’s 75 million we’ll never see again.
It’s disgusting, and it’s wrong, and yes, I blame these damn hypocritical Republicans, the ones who preach “down with big government” while at the same time hollering “don’t question authority.” They’re the ones who have created this atmosphere of bruised complacency.
